Residential Design

JWAA designs are noted for their integration of classic and modern elements, or, similarly, meeting the challenge of complementing a client’s heirloom belongings with new pieces or renewed surroundings. Residences designed by JWAA have featured in national and regional publications, ranging from home shelter magazines to a Wall Street Journal lifestyle article about the added value of sensitive interior design for historical residential properties. In addition to perennial appearances on home tours because of their distinctive style, past projects have received recognition for their significant contribution to improvement and incorporation of green-building practices.

Initial consultations establish aesthetic preferences, budgetary parameters and realistic timelines for project execution. In the conceptualization phase, JWAA will confirm client expectations of quality and functionality, explore general spatial configurations, and present preliminary options for finishes and furnishings. With client approval of design specifics, JWAA will source architectural materials, fixtures, lighting, furniture, art and accessories, whether from retail merchants, to-the-trade showrooms, or custom workshops and artisans. It then becomes a process of coordinating site preparation, procurement and delivery, execution and installation—but, above all, steady communication and occasional hand-holding until the design vision has been fully realized and made habitable.
