Construction
JWAA’s history of construction management began with JW himself, as Josh graduated from the D-I-Y rehabilitation of a modest first home to increasingly complex residential projects with profound structural challenges, zoning contingencies, and ambitious design programs. Relatively simple renovations of existing structures led to gut demolitions and total architectural reconfigurations, which, in turn, prepared him for new-construction projects, some involving fabricated steel superstructures designed to complement and preserve the character of the surrounding historical neighborhoods. Having served on architectural-review commissions for such urban districts, Josh brings both aesthetic sensitivity and administrative experience to the process of coordinating subcontractors and city inspectors—no less essential to the success of a construction project than facilitating the dialogue between the architect and the builder.
Licensed as a general contractor with the city of Columbus, Josh has cultivated long-standing, productive working relationships with reliable, qualified excavators, masons, framers, roofers, HVAC specialists, plumbers, electricians, finish carpenters, cabinetmakers, and so forth, as well as the suppliers of specialized and custom building materials. This has led to sustained partnerships with his clients, who engage the services of JWAA from one residence to the next. Above all, Josh seeks to render the intricacies of construction as transparent as possible for his clients, mitigate the surprises one inevitably encounters (particularly with renovation projects), and provide an on-going accounting of expenses throughout the project, mindful of both the original budget and a pragmatic sense of recuperating one’s investment upon resale.
